On 13th and 14th 2016 Belgrade hosted international project „EUrban Water Aid 2016“ in organization of Hungarian Ministry of Interior, National Directorate General for Disaster Management.
The main goal of the project was strengthening of regional cooperation in emergency situation implying adjusted procedures, efficient resource management and improvement of communication between sectors for disaster and water sector. In addition, the project includes check of the existing procedures and preparation of new documents in form of regulation on universal procedures on mutual help between countries in the region during emergency situations.
The project is financed by European Commission – EU Directorate for humanitarian aid and civil protection (ECHO).
At „ЕUWA 2016“ besides organizers also participated Budapest waterworks, Ministry Interior of Slovakia, Croatian National Protection and Rescue Directorate and PUC Belgrade Waterworks and Sewerage.
During this meeting in Belgrade was also organized group kickoff meeting for planning of exercise which will be held in spring 2017 in Hungary on river Tisza. On this occasion flood is going to be simulated and in this exercise will participate representatives of all countries included in this project.
